Why We Serve
Infinitely more important than how we serve or what our service looks like is the matter of why we serve. Christians are compelled to serve not to "get right with God," but because Christ died and rose and already made things right between God and us (2 Corinthians 5:14-15). To be clear, our why - our motivation to serve - isn't because of some law, but because Christ loves us (1 John 4:19) and lives in us (Galatians 2:19-20) . So we work hard to serve everywhere and everyone since whomever we serve, we really serve Christ himself (Colossians 3:23-24). We serve our church family (Romans 12:4-6). We serve our community (Luke 10:25-37). And we do it all for God's glory, not ours (1 Corinthians 10:31).
